Orlando Magic: Orlando Gives Away Another Number

The Magic have yet to retire a jersey and I really don't understand why. They have had some great players in their franchise, Penny Hardaway, Shaquille O'Neal and now Dwight Howard. Not one of their jerseys are retired. For instance, Penny Hardaway wore #1, then Tracy McGrady and a few other players for Orlando. Allegedly Penny Hardaway doesn't qualify to have his number retired, despite the fact that he along with Shaq led the team to the NBA finals in the '94-'95 season. Then the following year he led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals, and that's just a few of his accomplishments during his tenure with the Magic. He apparently didn't have enough loyalty to the team and did not play for them long enough. If Orlando wants longevity, how about Nick Anderson. He was a great player for 10 seasons and wore #25, hasn't been honored either. Now for Dwight Howard, he was the best player for the Magic for 8 seasons and he is the franchise leader in points, rebounds, minutes and blocks. Though he decided not to continue his career with the Magic, he was their superstar. The trend has continued, recently acquired Tobias Harris now wears Dwight's #12. All of these players had a major impact on the team and worked hard. The Magic wants loyalty, well I believe these players deserve respect and should be honored.
