AllStar Saturday 2013

The second day of AllStar weekend is normally filled with tons of entertainment and excitement. A nice way to kick off the AllStar game that takes place tonight. Well this year was interesting to say the least. The format was different and the changes didn't make the events better. All around it was a "ok"show but their were a few really great performances and some surprises.

Foot Locker Three-Point Contest

To my surprise Stephen Curry didn't do as well as many predicted, only making 17 shots. Matt Bonner for the west made it to the final round against Kyrie Irving for the east who seem to be making a big name for himself this year. Kyrie wins making 23 shots.

Taco Bell Skills Challenge

The competition against some of the fastest players in the league. Rookie Damian Lillard with the win, who had the two best times of the night.

Sprite Slam Dunk

A chance for players to show off their athleticism and skill in one of the most anticipated events. I haven't had high expectations for the Slam Dunk competition in quite a while. The change in the format this year made the dunk competition more complicated. On the upside participating in this event gave players that aren't in the lime light great exposure. Gerald Green started the contest off pretty well and then it just seemed to go down hill. Players missing dunks over and over again, judges giving out 10's for dunks that were not worthy. Pretty disappointing. But I will say in the end Terrance Ross of the Toronto Raptors put on a show. I loved his Vince Carter tribute and so did the fans making him this years Slam Dunk Champion.
